The recent loss of Fasil our President has left us orphans, and we will never imagine the same without him. While we are still trying to digest his departure, MSF-OCB & MSF-B Board members have been working hard to define a new set-up for the period until the OCB Gathering.
The OCB Gathering is the yearly event for all OCB staff - field and sections, members or not, everyone is invited - to exchange opinions, review our activities, challenge, question and hold our leadership accountable, share your voice to feed the debates around the medical and humanitarian challenges we meet, vote on the motions you propose and last but not least… elect your representatives on the OCB & MSF-B Boards !
Online? Hybrid? Not really!
This year, the ‘center of gravity’ of the 2024 OCB Gathering will indeed shift from an event organised in Brussels - with most of the key interlocutors physically present - to a simultaneous event of ‘gatherings’ across OCB in field locations and OCB partner Sections, where participants - staff, associative members, alumni - gather physically in groups (*) that are all connected together online. This with different locations, OCB sections and field representatives collectively taking the lead in organising and facilitating the debates for a truly co-owned and co-designed event.
Why this new set-up?
To bring the Gathering even closer to every MSFers around the world, increase their participation locally and enable more MSFers to connect to the OCB Association of MSF globally.
But also, to answer to the wish to increase the co-ownership of this event across OCB, address our financial constraints for 2024 and reduce our travel carbon footprint and cost.
The intention is to alternate this set-up every year with a rotating face to face Gathering.
What can you expect?
- An attractive and dynamic 1 ½ day broad program from Friday May 31st 1:00 pm CEST to Saturday June 1st 6:00 pm.
- Two debates collectively selected and directly linked to field realities, prepared and led by two different sections are on the go.
- An invitation from your mission/project/office/section to gather in your nearby MSF location to attend all together the event and of course … why not party together !
- For MSFers in Belgium we warmly invite you to gather face to face in the office to participate all together collectively in the whole Gathering, socialize, exchange during breaks, eat, drink and party together.
Saturday morning will be fully organized on a face to face sessions and will be dedicated to the election of your representatives in the MSF-B Board and the MSF Belgium Vice-President report.
- The Gathering will be interpreted in French, English, Portuguese and Arabic.

La perte récente de Fasil, notre Président, nous a laissés orphelins et nous ne pourrons jamais prétendre faire la même chose sans lui. Alors que nous essayons encore de digérer son départ, les membres des Conseils d'Administration de MSF-OCB et de MSF-B ont travaillé dur pour définir une nouvelle organisation pour la période allant jusqu'à l’OCB Gathering.
L'OCB Gathering est l'événement associatif annuel pour tout le personnel de l'OCB - terrain et sections, membres ou non, tout le monde est invité - pour échanger ses opinions, passer en revue nos activités, challenger, questionner et demander des comptes à nos responsables, partager votre voix pour alimenter les débats autour des défis médicaux et humanitaires que nous rencontrons, voter sur les motions que vous proposez et enfin et surtout... élire tes représentants aux Conseils d’Administration de l'OCB et de MSF-B !
Cette année, nous t'invitons à t'engager dans un format revisité pour cet événement associatif central de l'année !
En ligne? Hybride? Pas vraiment!
Cette année, le "centre de gravité" de l’OCB Gathering 2024 passera en effet d'un événement organisé à Bruxelles - avec la plupart des interlocuteurs clés physiquement présents - à un événement simultané de "rassemblements" à travers l'OCB sur le terrain et les sections de l'OCB, où les participants - personnel, membres associatifs, anciens - se réunissent physiquement en groupes (*) qui seront tous connectés ensemble en ligne.
Pourquoi ce nouveau format?
Pour rapprocher encore le Gathering de tous les MSF's dans le monde, accroitre leur participation au niveau local et permettre à davantage de MSF's de se connecter à la sphère associative de l'OCB au niveau global.
Mais aussi, pour répondre au souhait d'augmenter le co-ownership (la copropriété) de cet événement à travers OCB, répondre à nos contraintes financières pour 2024, réduire l'empreinte carbone et le coût de nos voyages.
L'intention est d'alterner ce set-up chaque année avec un Gathering en présentiel.
A quoi peux-tu t'attendre?
- Une nouvelle formule offrant un programme attractif et dynamique d'une journée et demie, du vendredi 31 mai à 13h00 CEST au samedi 1er juin à 18h00.
- Deux débats sélectionnés collectivement et directement liés aux réalités du terrain, préparés et animés par deux sections OCB différentes.
- Une invitation de ta/ton mission/projet/bureau/section à venir à ton site MSF le plus proche pour participer à l'événement et bien sûr ... pourquoi pas faire la fête ensemble !
- Pour les MSF's de Belgique, nous t'invitons chaleureusement à venir au siège pour participer collectivement à l'ensemble du Gathering, socialiser, échanger pendant les pauses, manger, boire et faire la fête ensemble.
La matinée du samedi se déroulera en face à face et sera entièrement consacrée à l'élection de tes représentants au Conseil d'administration de MSF-B et au rapport du Vice-Président de MSF Belgique.
- Le Gathering sera interprété en français, anglais, portugais et arabe.
Réserve la date, reste à l'écoute et contacte ton point focal asso pour ne pas manquer le rassemblement local le plus proche de chez toi ou prépare-toi à te connecter en ligne si tu ne peux pas te joindre physiquement à l'événement.
